Wanza Jane Lay Sparks, age 80, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She was born on August 29, 1929 in Amity, the daughter of the late William Byron and Lora Graves Hughes Lay. Wanza was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia and a member of P. E. O. On October 17, 1948 she married Don Sparks who preceded her in death. Wanza is survived by her daughter, Karen Sparks Waite (Larry)of Bismarck, two sons, Ken Sparks (Lori) and Bob Sparks both of Arkadelphia, and six grandchildren, Kelly and Daniel Devun, Leeann and Les Waite, and Matthew and Christopher Sparks. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Welch Funeral Home with Dr. Lee McGlone officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Danny Posey, Les Waite, Daryl Middleton, John Miller, Tony Petty, Ronnie Echols, Bobby Jones and William Echols.
