Virgil Willis Nichols, Sr., age 88, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, January 9, 2006, at Twin Rivers Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. Virgil was born August 19, 1917, in Ouachita County, the son of the late William Bill & Dovie Woodell Nichols. He was retired from Cabe Lumber Co. & International Paper Co. at Beirne. Virgil was also an ordained minister with the Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Floyd Nichols, one son Virgil Willis Nichols Jr. & one grandson Gary Pelton. Survivors are two daughters: Bonnie L. Kashner of Gurdon & Dovie R. Bobbi Carothers of Glen Rock, PA. Three grandchildren, Rhonda Michialsen of Birmingham, AL., Terry F. Sparks & Tamula L. Windham both of Gurdon. Eight great grandchildren & three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Jones officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery at Gurdon. The family will receive friends from 1:00 Pm until service time Thursday. Pallbearers will be Terry Sparks, Tommy Potter, Gregory Bledsoe, Kenneth Kashner, Richard Dick Carothers, John Peter Jung, Daniel Windham and Richard Windham.
