Stephen Lee Gravett, 51, of Arkadelphia, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brave battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Stephen was the owner of Gravett's Paint and Body, where he built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and custom paint work. He was proud of his work and often pointed out cars he had painted while driving through town. His passion was restoring classic cars—especially 1969 Camaros—and he never passed up a chance to talk shop.

Outside of work, Stephen enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, racing, and spending time with his family. He was known for his quick wit, love of practical jokes, and ability to make people laugh. His loyal dog, Elvis, was his constant companion and well-known around town—wherever Stephen went, Elvis wasn't far behind. Stephen was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Eunice Green.

Stephen is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kris Bishop Gravett of Arkadelphia; his son, Braxton Gravett of Arkadelphia; his sister, Stephanie Vassuar (George) of Rogers; his father, Bobby Gravett (Gail) of Arkadelphia; and his mother, Beverly Green Bedwell (Ray) of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Marie Gravett of Arkadelphia; three grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, Laken Edwards of Rogers, and Audrey and Jackson Bishop of Maumelle, who all knew him as the fun and mischievous "Uncle Stephen." He will be remembered for his humor, strong work ethic, and the love he had for his family, friends, and four-legged sidekick.

Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, also at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Zeke Allen officiating.

Memorials may be made to CARTI Foundation, P.O. Box 55011, Little Rock, AR 72215.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Visit www.welchfh.net to sign the guestbook and view the video tribute.
