Stella Marie Crigg, age 72, of Whelen Springs, passed from this life on Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1941 in Gurdon, the daughter of the late Willie and Coy Warren Walters. Marie was a volunteer grandmother at the Gurdon Public Schools and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Crigg, her grandson, Johnny Ray Hooks, her granddaughter, India Desha Hooks, nine sisters and two brothers. Marie is survived by three daughters, Rhonda (Warren) Harper of Locust Bayou, Ava (Richard) Thorn of Opelika, AL and Tina (David) Shuler of Gurdon, three sons, Randy (Tracy) Hooks of Whelen Springs, Mike (Sheryl) Hooks of Camden and Tommy (Belinda) Stanley of Mt. Pleasant, TX, one sister, Bertha McClure of Gum Springs and one brother, Lacy Walters of Camden, twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church in Gurdon, with Bro. Andrew Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Easley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave., Little Rock, AR 72207.
