Raymond Eugene Riggs, age 79, of Arkadelphia, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the Veterans hospital in Little Rock. He was born March 24, 1926, in Texarkana, TX, the son of the late Dallas and Mary Smith Riggs. He was a retired United States Army veteran of the Korean War and worked for Earl Gill Coffee Services for over 20 years. He attended Mt Olive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Thomas Riggs & two sons, Faron & Phil Riggs. Survivors are one daughter, Sharon Riggs of Arkadelphia, one granddaughter, Heather Hill of Arkadelphia, and four sisters, Thelma Jewel, Nola Griffin, Naomi Treadway and Gennie Nall, all of Texarkana, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Welch Funeral Home 202 S. 4th Arkadelphia, with Dr. John Small & Bro. David Tate officiating. Interment will be in Hill Family Cemetery at Chalybeate Valley. Family hours are 6 to 8 PM Friday. Pallbearers are Tommy Smith, DeWayne Wade, Richard Garner, Wendell Garner, Doyle Wade, and Ron Beaty. Memorials may be made to Mt Olive Baptist Church.
