Peggy
Cox
Jul 3, 1934 — Jun 12, 2020
Gurdon
Peggy Ann Feimster Cox, 85, of Beirne, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord on June 12, 2020. She was born July 3, 1934, in the Okolona, Arkansas community to William David and Katie Lucille Carter Feimster. She loved being a member and servant in the Beirne Baptist church where for many years she taught Sunday School. She retired from the Gurdon School System where she served for nearly 30 years, ensuring breakfast and lunch were provided to students entering the cafeterias. Caring for others was a language she spoke well, which was evident in the delicious meals she cooked for those around her. Affectionally called Mimi, not only by her grandchildren, but by extended friends and family as well, there was always a place at her table for one more. During her career, she was a member of the Arkansas School Food Service Association, and served her peers in 1989 as the ASFSA President. She enjoyed being a member of the Clark County Cattlemen's Association and helping her grandchildren with livestock projects, as well as spending time at the Clark County Livestock Auction preparing "Mimi's Burgers" for all who passed through. She was also an avid member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie with other members in the local club. She loved going to "camp meeting" and cherished the summer moments she spent at Davidson Campground. In later years, she loved being on DeGray lake, and found an extended family in those who, like her, called the G dock home away from home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 44 years, James Edward Cox, Jr., and sister Mary Jo Brittingham. She is survived by her children, daughter Robbie McKinnon of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; sons James Edward "Bubba" Cox (Sarah) of Gurdon, Arkansas, William Michael "Mike" Cox of Gurdon, Arkansas, and Robert Samuel "Sammy" Cox (Leah) of Crossett, Arkansas; brothers, David (Jan), Billy (Becky), and Greg (Joanie) Feimster, all of Benton, Arkansas, and sister Virginia Willis, of Baker, Louisiana; grandchildren Katie Moseley, Kelli James, Chad Cox, Cody Cox, and Cheyenne Cox; great-grandchildren Kathryn, Faith, Gunner, McKenna Ann, Carley, Kaylee, and Devin.
The family gives heartfelt gratitude to the entire hospice staff, and specifically Melissa Mehalic and Angela Jones for their love and care. Also, a very special acknowledgement to Coleen Tabor who became an exceptional friend and spent many hours catering to Mimi's needs. The love, patience, and compassion she showed to our Mother will forever be remembered and appreciated.
