Patsy Jane Murphy Powell, age 86, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born February 5, 1929 in Phoenix, AZ, the daughter of the late Foster and Nell Toland Murphy. Patsy was retired from Levi Strauss in Arkadelphia and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gurdon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Ray Powell, sisters, Peggy Murphy Parks and Mary Lee Murphy Smith and an infant sister, Helen Fay Murphy. Patsy is survived by her daughter, Jackie Herron of Gurdon, her son, Jimmy (Debby) Powell of Gurdon, three grandchildren, Tina Herron (Rickey) Posey of Sparkman, Ashley Powell of Springfield, MO and Kevin Powell of Gurdon, and four great grandchildren, Tyler Posey of Bryant, Austin Posey of Fayetteville, Jayce and Halle Posey of Sparkman, three sisters, Lyvonne Thomasson of Shreveport, LA, Barbara (Wayne) Daggett of Malvern, Kay (Jimmy) Surratt of Valiant, OK. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Rev. Travis Langley officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery at Gurdon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Market Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
