Mickey Darrell Smith, age 70, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at his home.  He was born April 13, 1950, in Salem, OR, the son of the late Barton and Edna Rose Burnett Smith.  Mick was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War Era.  He was retired from Georgia Pacific in Hope and did high steel construction work during his career.  Mick was a Christian.  He enjoyed counseling people with addictions and tinkering with his old cars in his free time.  Mick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy Barton Smith and Dalton Francis "Skeeter" Smith, and one nephew, Bradley Scott Clayton.

Survivors are his wife, Gwen Bissell Smith of Arkadelphia, one daughter, Katie McAnally Quaid (Tony) of Hooks, TX, two grandchildren, Peyton Quaid of Mt. Pleasant, TX and Preston Quaid of Hooks, TX, and one sister, Judy Clayton (Charles) of Hope, one aunt, Bobbie Mathes of Spring, TX, one uncle, Lindon Smith of Conroe, TX, three nieces, three nephews, several cousins and many, many friends also known as extended family.

A walk through visitation will be held from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Welch Funeral Home.

A private family memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating.

COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly followed and enforced.  Face masks required as well as social distancing.  A maximum of  only 50 people will be allowed in our facility at any given time.
