Mickey June Dempsey, age 89, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Courtyard Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia.  He was born June 27, 1931, in Lester, AR, the son of the late Everett and Iva Tunnell Dempsey.  Mickey was retired from Potlatch.  He was a member of Red Springs Baptist Church.  Mickey enjoyed deer hunting and putting in a garden every year in his free time.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mike Dempsey, one brother, JB Dempsey and one sister, Rebecca Hastings.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Alta Jean Stauffer Dempsey of Gurdon, who he married on May 30, 1953,  one son, David Dempsey (Tamra) of Gurdon, two daughters, Rhonda Shepherd (Gary) of Arkadelphia, and Denise Freeman (Tommy) of Arkadelphia, one brother, Charles Dempsey of  Prescott, one sister, Annette Harper of Little Rock, ten grandchildren, Brandon Dempsey, Amber Weems, Shane Dempsey, Jessica Taylor, Jason Shepherd, Billy Dempsey, Natasha Frazier, Jennifer Staggs, Dana Allen, and Elizabeth Ezell and seventeen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Gurdon at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021, with Bro. John Woods officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in Deceipher Cemetery at Gurdon.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Deceipher Cemetery Fund c/o First State Bank of Gurdon.
