Melinda Jane Burnley, age 54, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Vincent Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. She was born on January 1, 1960 in Prescott, the daughter of William Henry and Charlotte Ann Williams Pope. Melinda was a homemaker and a member of Beirne Baptist Church. She was a 1979 graduate of Gurdon High School. Melinda is survived by her husband, Charlie Burnley of Gurdon, one daughter, Susan (J. D. Smith) Burnley of Gurdon, two sons, Joshua Burnley of Gurdon and Joe Burnley of San Angelo, TX, her parents, Dub & Charlotte Pope of Gurdon, one sister, Shanna (Billy Joe) Arnold of Gurdon, one brother Greg (Lora) Pope of Gurdon and five grandchildren, Odalys Burnley and Bryce, Lainna, Braxton and Lane Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Beirne Baptist Church with Bro. James Blackwood officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Sycamore. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Pallbearers will be Bryce Smith, J.D. Smith, Brad Branson, Jerry Dickens, Kevin Key, David Dempsey, Doug Harper and Billy Joe Arnold.
