Mary Lou Brown McJohnson Stroud, age 87, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Hot Springs.  She was born July 6, 1934, in Perry, LA, the daughter of the late Shen Hugh and Irene Stansbury Brown.  Mary Lou was a 1952 graduate of Mount St. Mary's Academy and a 1966 graduate of Spencer Business College.  She worked in accounting during her career as a bookkeeper.  Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  She enjoyed sewing and crafts in her free time.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George L. Stroud, two daughters, Sharon McJohnson and Bridget Stopp, and one brother, Byrum B. Brown.

Survivors are one daughter, Cary Lynn Goza of Hot Springs, one brother, Gayle Brown (Doretha) of Lafayette, LA, six grandchildren, Jerusha McDonald, Heather Neal, Shane Babineaux, Daniel Babineaux, Amber Johnson and Sydney Swayze, and ten great grandchildren, Joshua Babineaux, Miles McDonald, Avery, Emerson, and Madison Neal, Mia, Emma, and Kinsley Babineaux , Clarke and Claire Swayze.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday August 12, 2021 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM following the visitation.

Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Friday at South Fork Cemetery in Gurdon.
