Lester Henry Otten, age 100, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Courtyard Gardens Nursing Center in Arkadelphia. He was born November 13, 1914, in Como, IL, the son of the late Henry and Flora Meyers Otten. Les was raised on his family's farm with four siblings and he graduated from Sterling High School in 1933. He married Evelyn Musser on June 10, 1936 and she preceded him in death in 2005. Les had one daughter, Lila Jo and she preceded him in death in 2007. He was a member of Amity Second Baptist Church. Les retired from General Electric Co. and enjoyed riding his bike for many miles at a time. Survivors are two grandchildren, Lisa Cantu of Amity, and Donnie Montgomery of Charlotte, NC, five great-grand children, one step great grandchild, two great-great grandchildren, one very special niece, Donnette (John) Stephens and one special nephew, David (Betsy) Hoover of Sterling, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Welch Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until services time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, IL.
