Karma Huntsman LeVar, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, following several years of ill health. She was born in Woodville, Idaho, on November 9, 1936, to Vern Huntsman and Grace Montague Huntsman, and she spent all of her childhood years in that area. Mrs. LeVar graduated from Shelley High School in 1954 and then attended Idaho Falls Business College. In the early 1960s, Mrs. LeVar served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay and Paraguay, learning the native language and teaching the people there about Christ. Later, while she was a student at Brigham Young University, her roommates encouraged her to correspond with their brother, Callis Jeddy LeVar, whom she went on to marry in 1964. The couple lived in Florida for a time but spent most of their lives in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where they raised their six children. Throughout her life, Mrs. LeVar was a committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she worked alongside her husband to help organize a branch of the Church in Arkadelphia. Over the years, she served in numerous Church leadership positions, including branch and stake Relief Society president and Primary president. She was known throughout her life for her commitment to serving others. After her children were grown, she worked in the admissions department at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia, until her health declined. Mrs. LeVar had a feisty personality, always standing up for herself and defending her strong convictions. Those closest to her knew that she loved a good joke and enjoyed seeing people laugh. She was devoted to her family, and one of the great joys in her life was spending time playing with and talking to her grandchildren. Mrs. LeVar is survived by her children, Lori (Dan) Pierce of Columbus, MS; DeeAnn (Dale) Cheatham of Brownsburg, IN; Alan (Erika) LeVar of Arkadelphia; Thad (Yvonne) LeVar of Tooele, UT; Lance (Ginni) LeVar of Moab, UT; and Natalie (Simon) Guerrero of Fort Worth, TX; siblings, Mildred Morris of Park Valley, UT; Bessie Park of Orem, UT; Ivan Huntsman of Shelley, ID; Linda Taylor of Bremerton, WA; and 17 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, as well as sisters Lorraine Ottley and Susanne Mair and brother Boyd Huntsman. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mt. Zion Rd., in Arkadelphia.
