John Summers, age 71, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 28, 1946 in Dumas, the son of the late Gwyn and Rose Gritton Summers. John was a graduate of Henderson State University and a retired school teacher and coach. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John is survived by his long time friend Belinda Holloway and her children, Tracy Holloway (Cindy), Sid Holloway (Wendy), Angela Roberts (Tony) and Jason Holloway (Stacy), one sister Marolyn Marsh (John) of Tulsa, OK and her children Jennifer McMillan of Carrboro, NC, Dougal McMillan of Wellesley, MA, Michael Naumoff of Carrboro, NC, one aunt Verna Gene Morre-Kelly of Damascus and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 7, 2018 at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. James Blackwood and Bro. Bob Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Welch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Don Collins, Wendell Ketchum, Bill Wright, Doug Jones, Ronnie Farnam, Bud Shepard, Allan Wright, Ronnie Strickland, Dennis Rowe and Ron Addington.

Interment will be in Delamar Cemetery .
