Joe Dixon, age 78 of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Courtyard Gardens Nursing Home in Arkadelphia. He was born on August 27, 1938 in Arkadelphia, the son of the late Bud and Lillie Mae Whitworth Dixon. Joe was retired from Piggly Wiggly as a supermarket manager. He was a member of Second Baptist Church . In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George Edward Dixon.

Joe is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Joyce Dixon, his son, Terry Dixon of Alabama, two daughters, Ann (Mitchell) Strother of Bismarck and Tomi (Sean) Hill of Texas, six grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Smith and Mary Holcomb, both of Arkadelphia and three brothers, Doyle and Elgie Dixon, both of Arkadelphia and Royal Dixon of Benton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Stan Parris officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at Welch Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens .

Pallbearers are Lance Garner, Jerald Smith, James Smith, Bruce Smith, DeWayne Robbins and Junior Bledsoe. Honorary pallbearers are members of Second Baptist Church .
