Jewel Dean Smithpeters, age 78, of Okolona , passed from this life on Friday, November 3, 2017 at her home.  She was born on September 24, 1939 in Arkadelphia, the daughter of the late John William and Eva Jane Miller Todd.  Jewel was a graduate of Warner Brown School of Nursing in El Dorado .  She worked as a nurse for forty-eight years at the old Clark County Hospital and Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.  Jewel was a member of Centerpoint Baptist Church .  She was an avid sports fan and the Razorbacks and Cowboys were her favorite teams.  Jewel also enjoyed cross stitching.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, JC Smithpeters and her grandson, Gavin Smithpeters.

Jewel is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Smithpeters of Okolona , her son, Jay Smithpeters (JoJo) of Okolona , her brother, Richard Todd (Helen) of Little Rock and two grandchildren, Gini Kate and Zak Smithpeters.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Center Ridge Cemetery with David Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Monday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Gerald and Jeremy Barfield, Brian & Chad Caldwell and Danny and Earl Melugin.
