Jackson Dale "Jack" Shepherd age 81 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born December 29, 1930 in Arkadelphia the son of the late Arlie Lee and Gertrude Kaufman Shepherd. Jack was a retired carpenter and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother Daniel Shepherd. Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years Thelma Mae Ware Shepherd of the home, two sons Gary (Rhonda) Shepherd and Steve (Loretta) Shepherd both of Arkadelphia, three brothers, Raymond Shepherd of Auburn, AL, Don Shepherd of Bella Vista, AR and Roy Shepherd of Cowlett, OK. four grandchildren Stephanie (David) Ammerman, Mike Shepherd, Jessica Morris and Jason (Kim) Shepherd, three great grandchildren, Ashton Ammerman, Jacob Shepherd and Cameron Morris. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Runyan and Dr. Marvin Pate officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at Welch Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Bruce Hixon, Rocky Ware, Brad Dyess, Bryan Davis, David Davis and Scott Johnson.
