Obituary

Harry Glen Wills, age 67, of Rockport, TX, formerly of Bowling Green, MO, passed from this life on Friday evening, September 8, 2006, at his home. Harry was born July 23, 1939, in Salyersville, KY, the son of the late Gilbert & Clarice Howell Wills. Harry was an avid fisherman and a United States Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by one brother, Howell, brother in law Jerry Harrington, one nephew Bobby Coats & one niece, Susan Coats. Harry had retired in March of 2005 as a tugboat mechanic for ADM Vessels where he had spent his entire adult life of employment. One of his greatest joys was taking all the grandkids fishing; he would bait all the hooks and just smile when they hooked a big one. Harry was a man of very few words and he did not leave behind a great fortune for his family, but he left behind something that most of us only wish we could when its all said and done. He left behind the wisdom of knowing when to and not to speak, knowing exactly what to say, and the fact that if you know nothing about the subject you probably shouldn t say anything at all. Harry died just as he lived, very modest, nothing fancy and when given the grim news just a few short months ago about his illness, he chose not to put his family through the long road of hope & suffering & trips to the hospital and countless dollars spent on him; he simply said Let s Go Home . Harry did just that and without the aide of doctors or miracle workers he once again did it perhaps the only way he knew how, the old fashioned way .. He took it like a man!! Survivors are his wife, Betty Ann Moore Wills of the home. Two daughters, Tracy Welch of Bryan, TX & Stacy Westlake & her husband Brett of Rockport, TX. One son, Tim Welch & his wife Arlene of Arkadelphia. Three very special grandchildren, Zach Westlake of Rockport, TX. , Dusty & Chelsea Welch of Arkadelphia, AR. Two sisters, Joyce Harrington of Cobden, IL & Donna Martin & her husband Jack of Canyon Lake, TX. Two brothers, Ron Wills of Cold Springs, NY & Jim Wills & his wife Elaine of Gainesville, FL. Sister in law Diane Wills of Montgomery, AL. Several nieces & nephews. And one very special friend, his min-pin Booker Until now, Harry Wills never lived in a mansion or walked on streets of gold. He now fishes in a pond where the catch will never grow old. There will not be a large church gathering or a line of visitors or friends, just one final request from one of God s simple men. He asked to be cremated and his ashes scattered in the wind, near that secret fishin hole he thought was only his. Final resting place, Estes Flats, Aransas Bay, Rockport, TX. Memorials to Friends of Nurses on Wheels 1015 Sante Fe Corpus Christi, TX 78404. Visit www.welchfh.net to sign the online guestbook.
