George Lindy Hughes, age 83, of Amity passed from this life on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at his home. He was born on December 4, 1926 in Lenox, AR, the son of the late John R. and Cora Emma Shepherd Hughes. George was a corporate officer in the commercial heating, ventilating and air conditioning business. He was a Protestant. George was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Dorothea Leah Ashcraft Hughes, five sisters and six brothers. George is survived by two daughters, Linda Karen Schuster of Eagar, AZ and Rebecca Sharon Hughes of Kailua, HI, one son, John George Hughes of San Clemente, CA, one brother, Charles E. Hughes of Amity, eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy, Aletha, Nathanael, Noelle, Alexander, Danielle, Scott and five great grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, November 1, 2010 at Brushy Cemetery with Bro. Bill Hughes officiating. Memorials may be made to Brushy Cemetery.
