Gene Granville Kingrey, age 80, of Mesquite , TX , passed from this life on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Christian Care Center in Mesquite.  He was born April 22, 1938 , in Sparkman, the son of the late Charlie Guy and Coy Jean (Kate) Fleming Kingrey.  Gene was a 1956 graduate of Sparkman High School and attended Eastfield Community College .  He married Barbara Jean Smith on November 27, 1957 , she preceded him in death on May 21, 2007 .  Gene was retired from Dr Pepper Bottling Company, serving as fountain sales rep, youth market rep and regional sales representatives throughout his career.  He enjoyed reading, poetry, crafts and collecting coins, matchbooks and crystals.  Gene was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Jean Smith Kingrey, one son, Tony Kingrey, and one brother, Jim Kingrey.

Survivors are one daughter, Kandi Roberts (Ken) of Forney, TX, two sons, Dennis Kingrey (Tori) of Arlington, TX, and Todd Kingrey (Nona) of Nevada, TX, six grandchildren, Remington Roberts, Weston and Andrea Kingrey, Paden and Tanner Marshall and Collin Strahan, four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Carolyn Deaton (James) of Sparkman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. James Blackwood officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Thursday.

Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery at Dalark.

Pallbearers will be Gene's sons, son in law and grandsons.
