Elmer Dale Smith, age 65, of Amity passed from this life on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at his home. He was born on September 26, 1942, the son of the Elma and Mary Gann Smith. Elmer was a sawmill worker and a brick layer. He was a member of Culvert Springs Assembly of God Church. Elmer was preceded in death by his twin brother, Delmer Smith, and brother, Odel Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Young of Norman, his mother, Mary Smith of Glenwood, two daughters, Michelle McCann and husband, Mike, and Leona Welch and husband, Bruce, all of Amity, one son, Tommy Young of Norman, four sisters, Annie Funderburk of Kirby, Euna Faye Spears of Amity, Cordelia Clements of Arkadelphia and Lavanda Golden of Langley, eleven grandchildren, Keith Shermantine, Sheena Graham, Dakota Smith, Ragon McCann, Summer McCann, Aaron McCann, Spencer Cagle, Kimberly Cagle, Catrina Smith, Dalton Tigue and Larissa Porter, and two great grandchildren, Destiny Graham and Tanner Smith.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Don Lane officiating. Interment will be in Coker Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Klein, Craig Martin, Ricky Johnson, Dennis Cagle, Tim Hill and Gary Buck.
