Elmer Odell Allison, age 76, of Texarkana, Texas, passed from this life on Friday, December 18, 2009 at his home. He was born on May 1, 1933 in Horatio, the son of the late Bert and Della Mae Jackson Allison. Elmer was a 1952 graduate of Fort Smith High School and retired from Imperial Irrigation District in El Centro, California. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, spending one tour in Korea, and served two years in the United States Air Force Reserves. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Kissee, and two brothers, William Allison and Nolan Allison. He is survived by his former wife and special friend of 57 years, Mary Catherine Smith, two daughters, Pamela Sue Hulsey and her husband, David, of Okolona and Deborah Lynn (Debbie) Crofton and her husband, Thomas, of Texarkana, TX, one sister, Bertie Mae Allison of El Centro, CA, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Smyrna United Methodist Church at Okolona with Rev. Carlton Cross officiating. Interment will be in Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Thomas Crofton, Ty May, Charles Saunders, Jackie Smith, Mike McCauley, Chris McKay, James McKa and Kent Malcolm.
