Elizabeth "Dodie" Ann Blanton, age 83, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at her home. She was born December, 28, 1935 in New Iberia , LA the daughter of Martin and Nellie Duplantis Linscombe. Dodie was a devoted school teacher for forty five years both in Louisiana School system and Gurdon Public School system.  During that time, she touched the lives of many young people.  She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Gurdon.  Dodie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and attending church in her free time. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Blanton, her parents, one sister, Ollie Zaunbrecher, and one niece, Ann Zaunbrecher.

Dodie is survived by one son, Jeff Blanton and his wife Kelly of Gurdon, five grandchildren, Maci Blanton, Emily (Brady) Blanton, Alyssa Blanton, Alana Morrison and Kayden Morrison, three great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Taylor and Tucker Williams

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at First United Methodist Church of Gurdon with Bro. Donnie Hudson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time.

Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery at Gurdon.
