Dona Jay
Burton
Oct 7, 1940 — Jun 17, 2020
Caddo Valley
Pumpkin, Momma, Aunt Dona, Granny, Granny-Great, Dona Burton finished her spiritual journey here on Earth and peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2020 surrounded by her husband, daughters, son and a son in law.
Dona was born on October 7, 1940 in San Bernardino California to the late Raymond Hudson and June Dunivent. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Renee' Burton and a granddaughter, Sara Katherine Burton.
She met a handsome marine, James J (Joe) Burton and married in Las Vegas Nevada on May 6, 1961. Together they raised four children. She was a proud Mustang Marine wife and made a home on each base that they were stationed. Dona was a free-spirited individual who loved what she loved and lived life to it's fullest. In her retirement she and her husband provided educational exhibits to school children on Native American culture and artifacts and they have displays in the Ouachita and Clark County courthouses. She was a proud 10-year city council member in Caddo Valley and took pride in the service she provided for her community. Dona enjoyed painting under the name of Lady Bird and could be found cooking for her family and making her grandchildren cherry sprites. She loved antiquing, writing stories, and was always lucky during her trips to Oaklawn. Her yard was always beautiful as she had a knack for growing flowers that she would cut and display in her treasures inside her home. Dona was never late to any event and this was something that her family always planned for. She would arrive early and would be a helping hand finishing up in the kitchen. She was beautiful in her diamonds or turquoise and always had her lips on but her true beauty was in her heart. She had a passion for helping others and many were very special to her.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, James J (Joe) Burton of Caddo Valley, son Steve Fuller Burton of Caddo Valley, daughters Katherine Burton Guidry (Dennis) of Prescott and Elizabeth Burton Gray (DeMoyne) of Camden, Grandchildren, Lee Adams (Melissa) of Bentonville, Jonathan Gray of Little Rock, Jenna Brown (Clay) of Greenbrier, Rachael Godwin (Riley) of Prescott and 6 Great Grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle, Hayden, Winnie, Marley Grace, and Ella Dean, which were her pride and joys along with numerous special nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Caddo Valley Cemetery 10:00 Saturday, June 20, 2020. The family will be at 129 Heflin Drive, Caddo Valley Arkansas.
