Don E. Sparks, age 79, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Twin Rivers Health & Rehab. Center. He was born February 22, 1926, in Detroit Michigan, the son of the late Fred M. & Lucy Lee Sparks. He was owner & operator of Freds Wrecking Yard since 1947 & later changed the name to Sparks Auto Center of Arkadelphia. He was a former city board member & a member of the Arkadelphia Lions Club. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Wanza Lay Sparks. One daughter Karen Waite & her husband Larry of Arkadelphia, two sons, Bob Sparks of Arkadelphia & Ken Sparks & his wife Lori of Arkadelphia. Six grandchildren Matthew & Christopher Sparks, Kelly & Daniel Devun & Leeann & Les Waite. Funeral services are 2:00 PM Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Martin officiating. Interment in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Family hours are 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Welch Funeral Home, 202 S. 4th, Arkadelphia.
