Charlie Edward Gentle, age 80, of Monticello, formerly of Curtis, passed from this life on Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home. He was born June 24, 1934 in Okolona, the son of the late William Wesley and Evia Jewell Barrong Gentle. Charlie was retired from Petit Jean Poultry and the former owner and operator of Gentle's Sixty-Six Service station for many years. He was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Overton, and one brother, JW (Bill) Gentle. Charlie is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Wilma Barto Gentle of the home, two sons, Sammy Gentle of Eureka, CA and Eddie Gentle of Friendship, three sisters, Wanda Welch of Hollywood, Peggy Palmere, and Betty Taylor both of Arkadelphia, four grandchildren, Sandy Sanders, Benjamin Gentle, Mandy Gentle Martin and Sam Gentle, six great grandchildren, Haven Herring, Austin Sanders, Julie Gentle, Jack Stiles, Ivie and Hunter Martin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Kay Osban officiating. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery.
