Flay William Smart, age 87, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 30, 1927 in Okolona, the son of the late James Uriah and Clemie Lena Wingfield Smart. Bill was a 1948 graduate of Okolona High School and a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He was a self employed timber owner and attended Third Street Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed fishing, forest management, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Smart and two brothers, James and Joe Smart. Bill is survived by his wife, Miladeen Dorla Hines Smart of Arkadelphia, three sons, Bill (Debbie) Smart of Lewistown, MT, Steve (Linda) Smart of Fort Mohave, AZ and Mike Smart of Portland, OR, one brother, Jerry Smart of Windover, NV, three sisters, Mable (Harold) Stapleton of Glendale, OR, Rose (JD) Shepherd of Glendale, OR and Judy Sligh of Arkadelphia, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Third Street Baptist Church, with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Pallbearers will be Freddie, Danny and Terry Willis, Pete Prutzman, Clint Palmer and Ricky Francis.
