Barbara Joyce
Simpson
Dec 27, 1940 — Aug 1, 2025
Bryant
Barbara Joyce Greer Simpson, affectionately known as BJ or Tootie by those who loved her most, was born in Water Valley, Mississippi on December 27, 1940 to Willis and Maggie Kyle Greer. She went to her heavenly home on August 1, 2025. BJ was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken. Tootie loved to shop at Hobby Lobby and do crafts. She affectionately did needlepoint on pillowcases for her family and would use glitter on anything to fancy it up. She couldn't sit still and loved to approach life with wit, sarcasm and an unfiltered humor to make even the stuffiest folks laugh out loud. One wiggle of her nose and you had to prepare yourself for her comical script to take over. BJ loved having family gatherings and would cook for days ahead to prepare.
She lived in Hot Springs Village for 20 years before relocating to Bryant to be closer to her sons due to declining health. She was blessed with family at Southern Trace in the memory care unit where the staff lovingly cared for her, laughed at her sarcasm, and allowed her to be the unofficial plant caregiver. The past few weeks she was spoiled by the staff at Gentiva Hospice and Evergreen Living Center 100 hall. Our family will be forever grateful for the care she has received. Tootie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant son Little John.
She is also preceded by siblings William (Billy) Greer, Fant Greer, Gwen Woods, and David Greer.
BJ is survived by her sister Georgie "Pat" Myers, sons Scott McRae of Maumelle, Tim McRae (Stephanie) of Bryant, Clay Simpson (Shelley) of Benton, Greg Simpson (Lisa) of Quapaw, OK, daughter Debbie Crouch (Doyle) of Ashdown and son-in-law Darold Wofford of Miami, OK. Grandchildren: Morgan Elam (Monte), Dalton McRae (Anniellyn), Lacey Cobb (Adam), Jake Jones, Trace Bussell, and Whitney Wofford and
8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 5 th , 2025 at Memorial Gardens in Ashdown with the service to follow at 10:30.
