Alfred Leon Sanders, age 89, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.  He was born January 19, 1931, in Ferriday, LA, the son of the late David Dewitt and Mary Ulmer Sanders.  Alfred was retired from Exchange Parts of America.  He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Gurdon and a United States Army veteran.  Alfred enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and collecting aluminum cans in his free time.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bessie Lular Brown Sanders, and one daughter, Jean Jenkins.

Alfred is survived by six sons, David Sanders (Mary), Eddie Sanders (Tammy), and Charles Sanders (Joyce) all of Gurdon, Jimmy Sanders (Katie) and Michael Sanders both of Arkadelphia, Dennis Butler (Mary) of Texas, two brothers, John Matthews and Billy Matthews both of Tallulah, LA, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 19, 2020, at Rome Cemetery at Okolona with Bro.  Bill O'Connell officiating.

Visitation will be held at Rome Cemetery beginning at 9:30 AM Friday.

Memorials may be made to Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia.
